Leo Eugene Mathis, Jr., 3-and-a-half years, passed away as the result of a tragic accident on June 22, 2011, in Helena, Mont. He was born on Oct. 15, 2007 in Coupeville to Leslie Janice Joll and Leo Eugene Mathis.

Leo loved everything to do with the outdoors: puddle stomping, shooting guns and picking up the brass at the range, bugs, and doing it all with his folks. He was all boy. He loved swimming at the pool. He was so smart and curious, a little daredevil. He would jump off anything into your arms. Everyone who was touched by his short life will remember his amazing life and spirit.

Leo is survived by his parents; his maternal grandparents, Terry and Wendy Joll; paternal grandparents, Leo Edward and Catherine M. Mathis; and great-grandparents Loyd and Mary Carden and Randy and Janice Mosness.

A visitation will be held at Burley Funeral Chapel in Oak Harbor on Wednesday, July 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held at First Reformed Christian Church on Thursday, July 7, at 2 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel.
