Leah Mae Hartley: March 24, 1942 – Dec. 31, 2019

Leah was born March 24, 1942 in Porterville, Calif. to Bob and Nell Shannon.

She grew up in Springville, Calif, and has several childhood friends that have truly been “life-long friends.”

Leah attended college and became a school teacher in Springville. She married Donald Lee Hartley.

Leah was an active, competitive, engaging full-of-life, adventuresome, happy-go-lucky, opinionated person.

After retirement, Don, Leah and her mother, Nell, relocated from Springville to Whidbey Island, Wash. in 2004. She loved Coupeville and the new friends they made, as well as the bald eagles, sailboats and orca whales.

Leah especially loved horses and dogs, traveling, gardening, whimsical things, walking, barrel racing, rodeos, parades, kayaking, old cars and trucks, and donating to environmental causes

Leah is survived by her husband, Don, at HomePlace in Oak Harbor, Wash; brother, Ken Shannon; a niece; and three nephews.

She will be missed by all who were fortunate to know her.
