Laura Kirk Linn

Laura Kirk Linn passed away the evening of Dec. 23, 2013, after a lengthy battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Lloyd, two children, four step-children and two grandchildren.

Laura moved to Whidbey Island with her family in 1965. She worked at Patton Realty and Harrington-Fick Real Estate until early 1970 when she chose to become a full-time “domestic engineer.”

During that time she was active with Troop 59 BSA, Little League, vacation Bible school and many other activities in support of her children.

As her children grew, she returned to college, attending Skagit Valley College, where she met Lloyd, Western Washington University and Antioch College where she ultimately achieved her goal of a masters in social work.

She worked for various agencies in Island, Skagit, Grays Harbor and Franklin counties.

Laura’s involvement with community agencies over the years assisted in policy changes that are still in place today.

She retired from her position within Island County Mental Health to spend more time with her husband traveling to Mexico, Hawaii and other locations.

She was a member of Soroptimist International, AAUW and various Masonic auxiliaries as well as a long time member of the Coupeville Community Bible Church and later the Whidbey Presbyterian Church.

She is preceded in death by two of her children, John and Frank, as well as her parents, Red and Alma McGee. She will be remembered as a quilter, a baker, a loving mother and wife.

No services are currently scheduled, but a Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date. Condolences may be sent to the family home at 45 N.E. Nunan Loop in Oak Harbor.

Remembrances of a monetary nature may be sent to Costal Missions, P.O. Box 77, Chemaius, BC, Canada V0R 1K0 or other worthy places of your choice.
