Kristine Rita Bartos (Swanson)

Kristine Rita Bartos (Swanson) passed away Feb. 4, 2006 in South Lake Tahoe as a result of an automobile accident. Kris was the proud and beloved mother of Harry Bartos of Stockton, Calif., and the beloved sister of Katy (Swanson) and Randy Allen of San Jose, and Nancy (Swanson) and Gene Koll of Dexter, Ore. She was preceded in death by her mother, Lillian Malphrus and father, Harry Swanson, both residents of Oak Harbor. She also leaves behind a dear friend, Walter Charles, Torrance, Calif., and life-long friend Mary Lu Turpin, Palm Desert, Calif. She is also survived by nephews Paul and Jeff Allen and niece Carrie Lippis.

Kris was born in Coupeville on June 4, 1953 and lived in Oak Harbor until 1971 when she graduated from Oak Harbor High School. She went on to graduate from Washington State University and Golden State University and had a 30-year career in credit management, most recently with International Alum in Monterrey Park. She was a leader in the field of credit management and served in many professional organizations throughout her career.

Kris will be remembered by many for her love of life, contagious sense of humor, boundless energy and always giving far more than she ever received. Kris enjoyed golfing, skiing and recently took up sky diving. She was a member of the “Ta Ta Sisters,” 12 friends from high school whogather on an annual basis. Those who knew her best are comforted to know that her last months of life were blessed with Walter and the happiness and affection they shared. All who knew her will miss her.

A reception will be held in her honor on Saturday, Feb. 25 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Aliso Creek Inn and Golf Course at 31106 So. Coast Highway, Laguna Beach, Calif., 92651.
