Kenneth Eugene Hunker, ADCS, USN Ret. Died at his home in Oak Harbor on July 18, 2012 at the age of 74. He was born November 22, 1927 in Tiffin, Ohio, a small college town which is home to Heidelberg University.
During his senior year, Ken left school to join the U.S. Navy and began a 30 year military career. Ken was assigned to 15 cruises with the Navy. He retired at NAS Whidbey as an ADCS in 1986 as a highly decorated service member. Ken began a second career with Boeing and he retired from there as a Customer Coordinator with 20 years of service.
Ken enjoyed traveling in his RV, camping and fishing. Ken was planning another cross country trip, when his health failed. Ken was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Whitehead-Muzzall Post 7392 of Oak Harbor.
Ken is survived by his wife of 45 years, Donna, at the family home and by three children, William West of Everett, Michael West and wife Michele of Marysville, WA and Mary Susan Red and husband John of Lexington, MD and by six grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the family home, 742 Old Wilson Place, Oak Harbor on Saturday, July 28 from Noon to 4:00pm. No flowers please. Friends and family are encouraged to share memories at www.wallinfuneralhome.com
