Kenneth Anderson

Kenneth “Kenny” Lynn Anderson was born Aug. 8, 1961, in Mount Vernon. Born to Willie and Shirley Anderson, he was the eldest of the three children.

Kenny lived a very interesting life, even though he was very limited with his health conditions. He spent the first two months of his life at the Children’s Hospital. Kenny was born with spina bifida, which paralyzed him from the waist down.

Kenny moved to Seattle in 1974 and lived at Fircrest and then an apartment in Shoreline. Kenny worked at Shoreline Community College until he had to quit because of his health condition. He got second place in a wheelchair competition, where he received a medal.

The family is grateful to many who have helped Kenny, especially his caregivers, Sharon Locke and Ann Leader who took Kenny on outings, fairs, concerts and threw him pizza parties.

Kenny rode in a hot air balloon with his dad and flew in a plane. His favorite thing to do was sail the Christmas Ship on Lake Union with Santa Claus, singing Christmas carols. Kenny lived at Bailey Boushay Care Center since 1999. Kenny always loved music. He played duets on the piano with his mom. Kenny liked to attend Emmanuel Baptist Church when his health permitted. One of his favorite songs was “Count Your Blessings.”
