Kathryn Oberg

Kathryn Marie (Eck) Oberg passed away peacefully May 3, 2002, after a two-year battle with cancer. Kathryn was born in Omaha, Neb., July 22, 1918. She moved to Seattle in 1938 to marry Gilbert Oberg, also from Omaha. They raised three children in their home near Greenlake. In 1974 they retired to their dream home on Whidbey Island. They enjoyed many years traveling and spending active winters in Arizona where she loved dancing, swimming and socializing with special friends. In 1998, they moved to Everett to be closer to their children. Kathryn’s warm personality formed quick friendships with nearly everyone she met. Her strong faith was evident in how she lived her life and cared for others.

Kathryn is survived by her loving husband, Gilbert E. Oberg and their children, Karyn DeFant and husband Ray of Olympia, Bud Oberg and his wife Peg of Lake Forest Park, and Wendy Olson of Kirkland. She will also be greatly missed by her six grandchildren, Jon, Ryan and Michael DeFant, Tammy (Oberg) Lee, Todd Oberg and Eric Olson. She was also blessed with one great-grandchild, Alexander Lee, who was the light of her life.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 18 at 11 a.m., at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2531 Hoyt Ave., Everett. Arrangements by Bothell Funeral Home.
