God extended His hand to Karen, age 41, in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 29, 2003, in Oak Harbor, while visiting her father and mother, James T. and Lauraine J. Brannan of Coupeville. Karen is survived by her husband, David L. Staup; a son, Anthony S. Broussard, a daugther, Amanada C. Broussard; and stepdaughter, Tara K. Staup of Duvall.

Additional survivors are five brothers and their families: Jeffrey T. Brannan, Stephen G. Brannan, Clayton G. Brannan, Kirk M. Brannan, and Craig M. Brannan, all in the greater Seattle area. Additionally, stepbrother Mark T. Derbyshire and family of Kirkland, and stepsister Melanie J. Krouse with husband, John, and daughters Chelsea, Emily, and Laura of Oak Harbor. Chelsea, Emily and Laura attend school in Coupeville.

Preceding Karen in death in 1979 was her natural mother, Ruth D. Brannan of Bellevue.

Karen was born August 23, 1961, in Van Nuys, Calif. Her family moved to Bellevue in 1964 where her father worked for Boeing.
