June T. Dorsey, 86, passed away in her sleep on June 9, 2005 at the Life Care Center in Richland, Wash. Born June 1, 1919 in Arlington, Mass., June was the middle of three children of David and Jennie Thompson.
June studied nursing and latter became a Navy nurse at Annapolis, Md. where see met and married her husband William R. Dorsey on June 15, 1944. Together they raised two children.
Life after the military led them to California and latter Washington where they lived in Wenatchee until retiring to their custom built house at Coupeville on Whidbey Island.
June loved gardening, painting, politics, cooking and playing the piano and she was regularly involved with clubs associated with those activities. June had a special appreciation for art and was delighted at the opportunity to live in Italy for a six month period of time which allowed her to visit the many art museums she had studied.
June was married to her husband for 53 years before he preceded her in death.
June is survived by her daughter Carol Lee Lacy of Bellevue, son and daughter-in-law Mark and Didem Dorsey, 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 18 at 1 p.m. at the Coupeville United Methodist Church. Inurnment to follow at Sunnyside Cemetery.
