Judith Miller Hall

Judith Miller Hall, eight-year resident of Greenbank, died quietly at her home Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003. She was born in 1932. Surviving local family members are her faithfully devoted son, Jacob W. Nease of Greenbank, daughters Jacqueline Feusier and husband Joseph Walck of Oak Harbor and Andrea Waters and husband Russell, and their daughters, Antonella Novi and Laura Dawn Novi, all of Anacortes.

Born in Carlisle, Pa., Mrs. Hall was raised by her grandfather, Harvey Miller (deceased) and his young bride Marie who currently lives in Florida with daughter Patty and husband Gilbert Valdez. Upon graduating from Carlisle High School, Judith joined the Air Force to become a photographer. She met and married Ralph Locke Feusier with whom she had two daughters and moved to Florida. As life changed, she later married Jack W. Nease and bore two sons, Jacob and Karl. Third husband Donald Rice Hall and Judith later settled in San Francisco where she worked as a cartographer for a large electric power company. After Mr. Hall’s death, she and son Jake moved to Whidbey Island to be nearer her daughters and fulfill her dream of living the country life.

Mrs. Hall was a lover of opera and the Seattle Mariners; New England boiled dinners and sushi; British mystery novels and the Sunday New York Times crossword puzzle. She traveled extensively but later found the peace and stability that only Whidbey Island can offer. She battled slugs and bugs in her gardens and relished caring for her barnyard animals whose members include rooster Jonny Cockrin and llama Edger Martinez.

Judith’s friends are true and life long; her children loving and loyal. She will be missed deeply by many. Mrs. Hall wishes all that read this message heed: Dying from the effects of long-term cigarette smoking is a terrible, terrible, terrible way to go.
