Joyce Hulett slipped peacefully from this world on Jan. 28, 2010. With her at the moment of her transition were her daughter, Lorraine Hulett of Seattle, her son Michael Hulett of Snohmish and granddaughter Kelly Liedtke of Snohomish. She is also survived by her great-grandson Orion Liedtke and her sister, Elaine Jerger of Bellingham.
Joyce was born on Nov. 23,1928 in Shelton. In 1967, Joyce and her late husband Pete Huelett started building their home on Whidbey Island. After several years of working on it together, they moved in, both remaining there until they passed away.
Joyce was loved by many. She enjoyed befriending new people, and holding on to her long-term friends. She was considered a wonderful neighbor. She was active in Emblem Club, including their many charitable activities. She loved gardening, her dogs, playing cards and games and going on short trips. She often vacationed in Hawaii and spent several winters living in Arizona, always returning to cook the holiday meals for her family, her friends and neighbors.
We will all miss her joyous spirit, infectious laugh and her zest for life.
A memorial service will be held at the Oak Harbor Elks Lodge on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010 at 1 p.m. Burley Funeral Chapel in Oak Harbor has been entrusted with arrangements.
