John Raymond Ahnemann

A service of remembrance for John Raymond Ahnemann will be held 1:30PM on Tuesday, January 29, 2002 at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, Oak Harbor, WA with the Rev. Carol Harlacher officiating. A private burial will be held Monday, January 28, 2002 at the Garden Of Memories Cemetery in Tampa, Florida. Arrangements are entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor, WA.

John Raymond Ahnemann, 91, died on January 23, 2002 in Coupeville, Washington. He was born August 31, 1910 in Germania, Iowa to John and Ida Ahnemann. His early years were spent in Pine City, Minnesota.

Mr. Ahnemann married Etta Roessler October 16, 1933 in New York. Etta preceded him in death in 1974. He was employed with W.T. Grant Company in Hempstead, New York for 43 years retiring in 1971. From 1971 to 1981 he lived in Tampa, Florida, then to Lakeland, Florida and in 1994 he moved to Oak Harbor, Washington residing in Harbor Tower Village.

Mr. Ahnemann served in the United States Army during World War II and was a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church of Oak Harbor.

He is survived by his daughter, Sandy Taylor and her husband Robert of Oak Harbor, WA and his son, Jack Ahnemann and his wife Shirley of New York. Five grandchildren, John Ahnemann, Shari Hohf, Mark Ahnemann, Robert and Richard Taylor, and seven great grandchildren, David Hohf, John and Matthew Ahnemann, Ashley and Brainna, and Cory Taylor and Chelsea Smalley also survive. He was preceded in death by three brothers.
