John Blake

John P. Blake, 74, was born May 15, 1928, in Boston and died April 28, 2003, at Whidbey General Hospital.

John graduated from Tufts University with a degree in biology and shortly afterwards enlisted in the U.S. Navy to serve aboard the USS Princeton as a corpsman during the Korean Conflict.

After the war, while serving in Japan, he met and married Tokiko Minase. In 1959, John was commissioned in the Medical Service Corps as a specialist in aerospace physiology; he was the 13th officer designated. He retired in 1970 as a lieutenant commander and settled in Oak Harbor.

John is survived by his wife of 48 years, Tokiko; son Bill Blake who lives in Germany; daughter and son-in-law Judy and Bill Boyce and granddaughter Cassandra who live in California. A private family memorial is planned.
