Joan Laurine Chadd, of Oak Harbor, died Oct. 5, 2004, following an inspiring battle with ovarian cancer.
Joan was born in Toledo, Ore., April 26, 1934. She graduated from Beaverton High School, Beaverton, Ore., in 1952, and attended Northwest Nazarene College in Nampa, Idaho, from 1952-1956. She had a long secretarial career, later becoming a licensed agent with Prudential Financial and she worked extensively with her husband in his Prudential business. She was also employed for a year-and-a-half for Oak Harbor Police Dept.
Joan’s great love for Jesus Christ was evident throughout her life, and in later years she prayed to find “The Church,” which led her to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, another great love in her life.
Surviving is her eternal love, Donald Chadd, of Oak Harbor; children, Johnny and Steve Kubick of Colorado; Cynthia Brooks of Oak Harbor; Angela Richardson of Oklahoma; 11 very most favorite grandchildren, and friend/former husband John Kubick of Grand Junction, Colo.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Oct. 16, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 201 NE O’Leary St., Oak Harbor. Burial was private at Maple Leaf Cemetery. Arrangements under direction of Burley Funeral Chapel.
