Jim Phillips

Jim Phillips, of Oak Harbor, passed away on Nov. 30, 2013. Jim and his wife, Sandra, were residents of the Uplands West neighborhood from 1974 until this year. Jim came to Oak Harbor while in the Navy, and retired as lieutenant commander in 1976.

Jim subsequently operated a leasing business and was an active member of the Rotary Club. He and his family were members of the St. Augustine Catholic Church. He enjoyed salmon fishing, playing golf and traveling with his wife in their mobile home. In recent years, they spent part of each year in the Tucson area.

Jim was born in Ashkum, Ill. in 1933. He attended Notre Dame University, graduating in 1955. During his 20-year career as a Naval submarine officer, he lived in Alameda, Virginia Beach and Greece.

Jim is survived by his wife, Sandra; son, Sean of Bellevue; and daughter, Shannon of Seattle.
