Jessie Petersma

Jessie Petersma, 86, was born to Sibbele Lubbert and Akke (Agnes) Louwsma Petersma on May 22, 1915, in Nymirdum, the Netherlands, and entered into rest with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Feb. 8, 2002, in Mount Vernon.

The Petersma family emigrated to Oak Harbor in 1923, where they farmed until 1945 when they moved to the Day Creek area where they continued to farm.

Jessie graduated from Oak Harbor High School. She worked as a bookkeeper for Darigold and retired following 46 years of faithful service.

Jessie was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of Mount Vernon.

She is survived by an aunt, Dena Heller of Oak Harbor; and numerous cousins in Oak Harbor, Oregon, Hawaii, Canada and the Netherlands.

Jessie was preceded in death by sister Anne Minert; brother, Lawrence Petersma; uncles Ben Heller and Hans Heller, and aunt Bess Heller.

It was Jessie’s wish that in lieu of floral tributes memorials be made in her name to the Mount Vernon Christian School, 820 West Blackburn St., Mount Vernon WA 98273.
