Jerry McLeroy

Jerry McLeroy, 66, died Oct. 10, 2002, at Careage of Whidbey after an extended illness. He was born April 4, 1936, in Amarillo, Texas, to Charles and Clara McLeroy. After high school he enlisted in the United States Navy where he spent the next 25 years stationed in Hawaii, San Diego, Whidbey Island and Corpus Christi, Texas, where he retired in 1980.

While in the Navy he enjoyed fishing, target shooting and reloading, CB radios and card playing. More recently, he found pleasure in reading, watching birds from his deck at home and chatting with his computer family. Jerry was a fun-loving, outgoing person, who enjoyed sharing his love and laughter with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Sharon of Oak Harbor, his children Erin McMillan and husband Mark of Oak Harbor, Eric McLeroy of Bonney Lake, Michelle Wilson and husband Brian of Texas, Mike Martin and wife Laurie of Oklahoma and Chella Judd of Texas; one brother, Charles McLeroy and wife Peggy of Texas; one sister, Charlotte Noyes and husband Bob of Texas; also, nine grandchildren.

A gathering to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, Nov. 9 at 3 p.m. at the Oak Harbor Elks Lodge, 155 NE Ernst St. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements are by Burley Funeral Chapel.
