Jean Burrows

Jean Burrows, 79, of Roslyn, Wash., went home to the Lord on Easter Sunday, April 24, 2011. She was born Dec. 16, 1931 in Seattle, the daughter of Louis and Mable Dennie. Jean graduated from Seattle’s Roosevelt High School and received a teaching degree in home economics from Washington State University. She remained involved for the rest of her life in the activities of her college sorority, Delta Gamma.

In 1948 Jean met her future husband, Tom, on a blind date and on Feb. 18, 1955, Jean and Tom Burrows were married at Green Lake Methodist Church in Seattle; subsequently, she and Tom accepted teaching positions in Oak Harbor where they raised their two children. Later in life they moved to Missoula, Mont., before retiring in Roslyn where Jean was an active member of Mount Pisgah Presbyterian Church and Presbyterian Women.

A memorial service will be held at Mount Pisgah Presbyterian Church, Roslyn, on Saturday, June 4 at 1 p.m.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Dennie in 1956 and Mabel Dennie in 1981.

Jean is survived by her husband of 56 years, Tom Burrows of Roslyn; her children, Jeff Burrows and wife, LaVonn of Colorado Springs, Colo., Leslie Walker and husband Farley of Ellensburg; four grandchildren, Nic, Morgan, and Anna Burrows and Zander Walker; her brother Roger Dennie and his wife Haakie; her cousin, Jerry Greenway; and innumerable loving nephews, nieces and friends.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mount Pisgah Presbyterian Church Restoration Fund, P.O. Box 247, Roslyn, WA 98941.
