Cmdr. James J. Brosnahan, U.S. Navy retired, died Jan. 22, 2005. He was born Sept. 23, 1921.
He is survived by his loving wife Joan Brosnahan; daughters Linda MacDonald (Bernie, son Jaime), Lisa Rogers (Hazen Gauthier); son Michael Brosnahan (Wendy, Robbie, Nena, Briana) and nephew James O’Brien.
In 1961, Cmdr. Brosnahan was the commanding officer of Operation Deep Freeze in McMurdo Sound, Antarctica. He was there for 13 months.
Before settling in Oak Harbor, Jim was the commanding officer of VT 7, a squadron which trained pilots out of Meridian, Miss.
Cmdr. Brosnahan is retired from Whidbey Island Naval Air Station where he was NAS Air Operations officer.
He and his wife Joan have been active members of the Oak Harbor community for more than 40 years.
A quiet ceremony with family was held Wednesday, Jan. 26. The family requests no flowers. Donations may be made to a favorite charity.
