J. Wade Cunningham a long time resident of Big Lake, was born to Lawrence Eugene and Marvel Cline (Harrison) Cunningham on Oct. 29, 1925 in Humboldt, Iowa, and he entered into rest on April 26, 2007 in Mount Vernon, with his Loving family at his side.
Better known to all as Wade, he served his country during World War II in Germany in the United States Army Infantry in Communications. He entered into marriage with Bette Lou Andersen on Sept. 23, 1950, remaining married until his death. He worked a variety of jobs, which included welding, electrical, television, and telephone repair.
Wade worked for the Skagit Valley Telephone Company and held a top sales record for adding home telephone lines to existing service. He also worked as a Civil Service Technician at NAS Whidbey for many years and retired from that position. He is survived by his loving wife and partner of almost 57 years, Bette, at the family home; daughters, Pat Cunningham of Big Lake, and Kay Angotti and her husband Steven of Eatonville; grandchildren, Travis Angotti and Jessica Angotti of Eatonville; brothers, Roger Cunningham of Des Moines, Iowa, and John Cunningham and his wife Trova of Livermore, Iowa; and sister-in-law Elnora Cunningham of Longmont, Colo. His brother Miles Cunningham predeceased Wade. At his request there will be no public services. In lieu of floral tributes, the family requests that memorials in Wade’s name be made to the Big Lake Volunteer Fire-Fighters Association, and the Skagit Humane Society.
