Hazel Findley

Hazel Isabell Mash Findley was 85 years old when she passed away peacefully at the home of her granddaughter in Oak Harbor on May 25, 2006.
She was born in Dallas County, Iowa, on Aril 8, 1921. She was one of Lola and Tom Mash’s 13 children. Two sisters survive her. They are Louise Scott of Tucson, Ariz., and JoAnn and Norman Thomas, long-time Dallas Center residents.
On Sept. 4, 1939 Hazel married Donald Findley. They made their home on a farm 10 miles southwest of Winterset, Iowa, where they raised their four children. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, 10 siblings, her husband, her son Ivan, a grandson Wendell, and a great granddaughter Nicole. She is survived by her three daughters, Julia and John Brooks, Kathy and Dan Darms and Donna McCallon. She was the mother of four, grandmother of 17, great grandmother of 37, and great-great grandmother of 24.
A graveside service will be held at Brethern Cemetery near Dallas Center, Iowa on June 29. Family and friends are invited to attend or meet with the family at the Dallas Center Legion Hall at 2 p.m. The family requests no flowers. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association and all are urged to sign up to be organ donors.
