Hazel C. Olsen, 93, passed away June 3, 2007. She was born at Puget Island, Wash., on Oct. 13, 1913, to Anna and Ole Johnson.

She moved to Whidbey Island and met and married Lester C. Olsen, who worked the first traps on West Beach. Hazel has been a resident of Bellingham for 75 years.

In the past she enjoyed family gatherings and traveling with her late husband of 56 years.

Hazel is survived by her son Lester “Lee” Olsen and wife Virginia Olsen of Bellingham; granddaughters Daun Lee Thayer and Kristy Ann Olsen; great-grandson John Thayer; brother Harold Johnson of Oak Harbor; nephew and niece Jon and Kristine Norton of Bellingham; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

A private family service will be held. Arrangements by Jerns Funeral Chapel, Bellingham.
