Harry David Sorg

Harry David Sorg, 70, a 35-year resident of Oak Harbor, died at Careage of Whidbey on June 6, 2002.
Mr. Sorg was born May 27, 1932, in Seattle to Harold Sorg and Harriett (Goble). Following high school, he entered the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was in the Austrian Ski Patrol Unit and played football in the Army. He lived in Seattle and Maple Valley for many years, moving to Whidbey Island in 1967. He was employed for many years as a truck driver for moving and storage companies. Harry enjoyed hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities.
Harry was an Eagle Scout during high school, and was a member of the National Rifle Association, the American Legion and the Teamsters Union.
He is survived by his six children, John Sorg of Twisp, Joyce Barrett of Carnation, and Janet Acord, Jean Bodin, Joseph Sorg and JoAnn Haley, all of Oak Harbor; 19 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was also survived by his longtime devoted friend, Julia Sorg.
In keeping with his wishes, no service will be held. Private inurnment will take place at Hobart-Maple Valley Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements and cremation are under direction of Burley Funeral Chapel.
