Harold Ray Griggs: Dec. 12, 1946 – May 15, 2020

Harold Ray Griggs was born in Robbinsville, N.C. on Dec. 12, 1946 and passed away on May 15, 2020 at his home in Spokane, Wash.

Harold grew up with a brother and two sisters in Oklahoma. He served four years in the Marine Corps with a tour of duty in Vietnam. He moved to Whidbey Island, Wash., in the early 1970s to raise his family; he married and had four daughters.

He spent his career with NBBB in Freeland, Wash., working as a carpenter and foreman. He enjoyed shooting, golfing, woodworking and cars, but his most cherished activity was sharing time with his daughters and grandchildren.

At retirement, he left Whidbey for Spokane to be near his young granddaughters. He was admired for his terrific sense of humor, loyalty to his family and friends, and his generosity.

He died at age 73 of cancer. He is survived by his sister, Donna Marie Griggs; daughters, Delisa (Chris) Berhow, Sara (Greg) Maher, Priscilla Griggs, and Penny Griggs; and his grandchildren, Ryan, Nathan, Lauren, Nora, Natalie, Cecelia and Louise.

A celebration of his life is planned for next spring.
