Donald E. Gunsauls Sr. and Elma M. Gunsauls

Donald E. Gunsauls Sr., USN Ret., passed away at Whidbey General Hospital on March 29, 2002 at the age of 82. Elma M. Gunsauls, Ret. Navy wife, passed away at Life Care Center of Mount Vernon on July 25, 2005, at age 85. Both Don and Elma passed away with family at their sides.

Don and Elma were married May 17, 1952 and shared 50 great years together, traveling to the Philippines and other duty stations before settling at NAS Whidbey Island in 1955. Between them, Don and Elma raised three sons and three daughters and have numerous grand and great grandchildren.

They enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing and gardening, but most of all they enjoyed family, friends and each other. Now they are together again, happy and healthy.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank the staff at Harbor Towers, Whidbey General Hospital, MV Oncology and Life Care Center of Mount Vernon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to the American Heart or the American Lung association.
