George McAdoo passed from this life into the next, Thursday, March 26, 2009, while surrounded by his loving family at home in Greenbank. He was born February 1, 1933, in Wenatchee to George W. McAdoo, Sr. and Martha Fowler McAdoo Tuttle.

George was raised in the Wenatchee and Dryden area, attending grade and junior high schools in Wenatchee and some of his high school education at Dryden, Washington. At the age of 17 he joined the US Air Force, where he spent 4 years, he wanted to serve some of his career in Korea during the conflict there, but was redirected to Alaska. George admired and respected all the military personnel and their sacrifices to our country.

In 1966, George married the love of his life, Sally, in Wenatchee. They spent many wonderful years together, raising their family and traveling with George’s work.

George loved construction and was deeply involved with the building of the Alaska pipeline, working for the highly respected company Morrison & Knudsen.

His construction work allowed him to travel the world and see many exotic places.

George is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Sally, along with his son, Joshua and grandchildren, Zachary and Chelsie of Marysville. In addition, George is survived by his stepchildren, who he loved and cared for, Patti Troutman, Greenbank, Richard S. Lange, Wenatchee, Paula Adkins, Gakona, Alaska, and Robert Lange of Oak Harbor, and who brought into his life 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Surviving George are members of the Smith family of Dryden who cared for George for several years, and who included his closest and most dearest cousin, Janice Miller of Cashmere, plus surviving Fowler descendents of his beloved grandmother, Ethel Fowler of Wenatchee, who proceeded him in death.

The family will have a private celebration of George’s life when they gather at Conconully State Park, George’s favorite get-away, sometime later this summer.
