Franklin A. Tralle, a Sequim resident, died April 22, 2002, at Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon, at the age of 60. He was born Dec. 20, 1941, in Northfield, Minn., to Roland and Catherine Dettling Tralle. Franklin was married to Mary Larson May 9, 1964, in Breckinridge, Minn. For the past seven years he lived in Sequim and formerly resided on Whidbey Island. Franklin was a retired chief petty officer, serving with the Navy from 1965 to 1985. After his military service, Franklin worked for the U.S. government as a payroll clerk at Whidbey Island until two years ago when he began working in the maintenance department of Cascade Mall in Burlington. Franklin was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sequim and the Knights of Columbus. He was active in Boy Scouts with his children, he umpired Little League softball and also enjoyed gardening and fishing.
Franklin is survived by his wife, Mary, at the family home in Sequim; children William and his wife Regina Tralle of Bellevue, Neb., Anne and her husband David Abell of Dawsonville, Ga., Franklin J. and his wife Christie Tralle of Cumming, Ga., Michelle and her husband David Cole of Sequim, and Candyce L. Tralle of Sequim; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Duane and his wife Gayle Tralle of Sequim, and Roger and his wife Beverly Tralle of Dundas, Minn.; a sister Dorothy and her husband Francis Pavek, Sr., of Northfield, Minn.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and a son, James F. Tralle.
A rosary service will be held April 24 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sequim. A funeral mass to follow will be April 25 at 11 a.m., at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sequim, with Father Francis Walsh S.J. as celebrant. A reception will follow the mass at the church.
