Evelyn moved to Seattle with her husband, Milton, who served in the U.S. Coast Guard and Public Health Service, where she lived until they retired to Whidbey Island. She was a preschool teacher and a medical assistant for her husband at Northgate Medical Center. Evelyn was a friendly, loving, caring woman committed to her family and her husband’s patients. She was known for her kindness, sweetness and loyalty to her family, never forgetting a birthday or anniversary. An avid bridge player and golfer, she was a member at Useless Bay Golf Club, and known as a champion both on and off the golf course. She enjoyed handwork, embroidering and crocheting many lovely items. She loved classical music and played the cello. She believed in higher education and was instrumental in seeing that her children and grandchildren received advanced degrees. Her family considered her the world’s best apple pie baker and family short order cook.

Evelyn bravely endured Parkinson’s disease in the last few years of her life. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Evelyn’s memory to Evergreen Hospice in Kirkland or the Booth Gardner Parkinson’s Center. Services were held on April 27, at St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Freeland.
