Elsa Gibbons

Elsa R. Gibbons, 87, an eight-year resident of Oak Harbor, died at Whidbey Island Manor on March 31, 2002.

Mrs. Boyd was born in Buffalo, N.Y., on April 7, 1914, to Harry E. Klotzbach and Gertrude (Campbell) Klotzbach. She was a graduate of P.S. No. 68 and Hutchison High School in Buffalo. She was married to Harry Gibbons. In 1994, she moved to Oak Harbor to be near her son.

Her hobbies included playing bridge, singing and traveling. She was a member of Betsy Ross-Levant Chapter No. 695 OES; AILIAMSI Court No. 12 LOSNA; Henrietta York Circle No. 91 Dept. of NY LGAR; Past-president of the Auxiliary of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War; and a member of Sea Scout Ship No. 180 Mother’s Club. She was also an active member of University Methodist Church in Buffalo. She was retired as an employee of AM & A Department Store in Buffalo.

Mrs. Gibbons is survived by her two sons, Gerald L. Myers of Oak Harbor and Robert E. Myers of Slidel, La.; and her brother, Lewis E. Klotzbach of Columbia, Md. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry Gibbons in 1993.

Visitation was held April 2 at Burley Funeral Chapel. A memorial service will be Wednesday, April 3 at 3 p.m., in Burley Funeral Chapel, the Rev. Mary Petrina Boyd officiating.
