Edward Barrington Fisher Jr.

Edward Barrington ‘Banky’ Fisher, Jr. died Aug. 29, 2003. He was born Oct. 31, 1942, in Long Beach, Calif., to Edward B. and Helen Fisher. Family and friends attended a memorial service Sept. 5 in Garibaldi, Ore., where Mr. Fisher had lived for the last 43 years.

The family moved to San de Fuca when he was two years old. He attended grade school at the San de Fuca school and graduated from Coupeville High School in 1941. He joined the Navy and served on the aircraft carriers Enterprise and Marcus Island all of World War II and earned many battle stars. He retired from the Navy in 1960.

After Navy service, he moved to the north coast of Oregon where he owned and operated Georges Dock on Nehalem Bay. He later captained charter boats the Nancy H. and the Fran F. from Garibaldi, Ore.

Mr. Fisher died quietly at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Frances and son Daniel. Survivors include sons Philip and Dean Fisher, daughters Susan Durette and Melanie Sander and six grandchildren, all of Oregon; and sisters Marie Aylward or Seattle, Edith Ankney of Coupeville and brother Joe Fisher of Snohomish.
