Dr. Franklin Johnson, 90, died Oct. 14, 2006, at Regency on Whidbey Retirement Community. He was born Feb. 1, 1916, in Chicago to Frank and Josephine Johnson.
In 1941 Franklin married Betty Overton in California. After 30 years in the newspaper industry, he was a teacher, assistant dean, and Dean of Instruction and Curriculum at Trade Technical Community College in Los Angeles. He also taught at UCLA and USC and was a consultant at Laverne College.
After retirement, Franklin and Betty moved to Coupeville in 1980. They moved to Regency in 2004.
Franklin is survived by his wife Betty, his daughter, Virginia Tourtellot and husband Ted of Coupeville, grandson Robert E. West and wife Sarah, granddaughter Marlys A. Holmes and husband Andrew, and great-grandson Evan Franklin Holmes, all of Bellingham.
A private family gathering will be held to celebrate Franklin’s life.
Arrangements were under the direction of Burley Funeral Chapel.
