Dorothy Lienard Osberg Trott, resident of Oak Harbor, died peacefully at her home on May 20, 2006. She was a loving mother, sister and friend to many. She will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Trott was born in Seattle on Sept. 5, 1918, to Jean Lienard and Elma Wood Lienard. Dorothy was raised in Lake Forest Park and graduated from Roosevelt High School. She attended the University of Washington where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree and went on to become a Registered Nurse through the University of Washington.
Dorothy served her country during World War II as an Army 1st Lieutenant nurse in England. During her service in England Dorothy met her future husband, Franklin G. Osberg, M.D. They were married in Lake Forest Park in 1946. After her divorce from Dr. Osberg, Dorothy moved to Chicago to continue her career as a nurse/anesthetist. While working at Grant Hospital she met and later married Nathaniel Stern, M.D. They lived in Chicago until 1972 when they moved to Whidbey Island to be close to her parents.
After Dr. Stern’s death Dorothy moved to Milwaukie, Ore., and continued her nurse/anesthetist career. There she met and later married James Trott, a civil engineer and 32nd Degree Mason. Dorothy was active in the Masonic Temple during their time in Milwaukie. She continued to live in Milwaukie and retired as a nurse/anesthetist in 1985. After the death of her husband, Dorothy returned to Whidbey Island, in 1994, to be closer to her sister.
Dorothy attended St. Stephen’s Anglican Church in Oak Harbor. She enjoyed playing bridge with the Army Wives Bridge Club and was active with The Friends of the Library. Dorothy was a member of the Retired Officers Wives Club of Oak Harbor. She was a voracious reader, enjoyed cooking, operas and symphony concerts.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Mark Franklin Osberg of Tahoe City, Calif., and her sister Marguerite Walker of Coupeville.
There will be a Rite One Requiem Eucharist for Dorothy Trott at St. Stephens Anglican Church in Oak Harbor at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 27, with a reception following. Private family services were held earlier at Sunnyside Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to The Friends of the Library. God bless and keep you Dorothy.
