Dorothy Sue McNamara

Dorothy Sue McNamara passed away quietly on April 30, 2011, in Oak Harbor. She will be remembered with love and affection by everyone who knew her.

Born in Lewistown, Mont., on Sept. 7, 1917, to Susan and Frank Allardin, she had an older sister Elsie and a younger brother Jack who both predeceased her. She was a graduate of Ilwaco High School.

Dorothy married the love of her life, John Fowler McNamara, in June 1936 in Seattle. They had two loving sons, John and Bill. Her husband predeceased her in 2000.

Dorothy was a loving spirit who had only kind words about everyone she knew. Dorothy loved gardening, playing Rummikub and helping others. She was a loyal friend, always accepting, and sincerely interested in the well-being of others. More than anything else she loved her family.

She will always be remembered by her two loving sons, their spouses, four grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many friends.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, June 11, at 1 p.m. in the Whidbey Cottage’s Clubhouse. Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
