Doris Jean Mays, 75, 17-year resident of Oak Harbor, died at her home, March 14, 2003.

Doris was born in Greenville, Texas, Dec. 24, 1927, to Denny Bostick and Lillian (Rudd) Bostick. She was raised in Greenville and graduated from high school there. Doris married Justin Burt Mays, May 7, 1946. She lived in Greenville until 1986, when she moved to Oak Harbor.

Doris enjoyed playing card games, dice and working crossword puzzles. She was an avid Seattle Mariners fan. She was active in raising her grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sons, Joel Mays of Arlington, Texas, and Dennis Mays of Oak Harbor; six grandchildren, Jonathan Mays and wife Susie of Fort Worth, Texas; Katrina Baltazar of Seattle; Zane Mays and wife Chandra of Okinawa, Japan; Zachary Mays and wife Kristin of Dover, Del.; Jamie Mays of Fort Worth, Texas; and Adrian Mays of Shreveport, La., and fiancee Susan Asmus of Coupeville; five great-grandchildren, Landri, Logan, Natalie, Nathan and Morgan Mays; her sister, Dorothy Horrocks of Garland, Texas; also, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Justin Burt Mays, Dec. 22, 1981, and by four brothers, Edmund, Herschel, Lester and Herman Bostick.

In keeping with her wishes, no services will be held. Private inurnment will take place at a later date in Greenville, Texas.
