Donald Paul Anderson: Dec. 26, 1953 – Jan. 29, 2021

Donald “Paul” Anderson died on Friday, Jan. 29, 2021 at his home in Waunakee, Wisc.

Paul was born on Dec. 26, 1953 to Donald and Patricia (Goethel) Anderson at the Nouasseur U.S. Air Base near Casablanca in French Morocco, where his father was flying planes for the U.S. Navy.

He grew up in Oak Harbor, Wash. on Whidbey Island, where he developed a love for fishing. In his earlier years, he enjoyed playing high school baseball and football. Paul attended U.W. Stout, where he was on the wrestling team. There he met his wife Pam.

Paul and his family owned and ran the Oak Harbor Tavern. He was a commercial fisherman on Puget Sound, in Southeast Alaska and on the Bering Sea in Bristol Bay. During the off-season of fishing, he earned his CDL so that he could distribute fresh seafood. He later moved to Waunakee, Wisc., where he drove truck for a few years until he began work at Oak Hill Correctional Institution and was employed there until his retirement.

Paul enjoyed fishing, hunting, dancing, movies, water sports and a good game of cribbage. He loved dogs and spending time with family. He was fun-loving, caring, giving and very social. He could strike up a conversation with anyone.

Paul loved being a dad and enjoyed coaching Pop Warner football and supporting his children’s sports during high school.

Survivors include his children, Patricia (Kyle) Anderson-Butt and Brian Paul (Alison) Anderson, and his grandchildren, Kaden and Carter Butt.
