Dolores Alonzo

Funeral Mass for Dolores Marie Alonso will be celebrated Saturday, April 13 at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, Oak Harbor, with Rev. John J. O’Leary, S.J. Celebrant. Rites of Committal will follow at Fernhill Cemetery, Anacortes. Rosary was recited Friday evening at Burley Funeral Chapel.

Dolores M. Alonso, 64, passed on peacefully at home on April 9, 2002, with her family by her side. She was born May 15, 1937, in Fresno, Calif., to Louis and Ruth (Sanchez) Martinez. She graduated from LaPuente High School in 1957. She lived in Baldwin Park, Calif., where she raised her five children.

Dolores moved to Oxnard, Calif., where she met Cesareo Alonso. They were married in Oxnard on April 26, 1986. In 1988, Dolores and Cesar moved to Coos Bay, Oregon. In November of 1989, they settled in Oak Harbor.

Mrs. Alonso enjoyed working in her garden. The greatest joy in her life was being with her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking. Everything she made was homemade with love. She enjoyed life to the fullest, always being very cheerful.

Mrs. Alonso is survived by her husband, Cesareo “Cesar” Alonso at the family home, Oak Harbor; by five children: Pablo Lopez, Jr. (Cathy) of Chino Hills, Calif.: Maria G. Ramirez (Luis) and Tina Davis, of Oak Harbor; Juan Lopez (Stacy) of Montclair, Calif.; and Angelica Cruz (Jose) of Mount Vernon. One brother, Jesse Martinez of Oklahoma, and one sister, Margaret Hurtado of Big Bear, Calif., also survive her.

Mrs. Alonso is also survived by nine grandchildren: David Paul Lopez of Chino Hills, Calif.; Luis Ramirez, Jr. and Adriana Ramirez, both of Oak Harbor; Kevin and Nathan Davis of Roseburg, Ore.; Anthony and Daniel Lopez of Montclair, Calif.; and Jose and Karina Cruz, both of Mount Vernon. She also survived by 86 nieces and nephews, 5 aunts and 5 uncles, 6 half brothers and 4 half sisters. One brother, Louis Martinez, and one sister, Patricia Valenzuela, preceded her in death.
