Dennis Earl Smith: Aug. 18, 1948 – Aug. 21, 2020

Dennis (Denny) Earl Smith was born Aug. 18, 1948, in Coupeville, Wash., to Earl Smith and Louise (Metcalf) Smith of Langley, Wash. He graduated from Langley High School in the class of 1967.

Denny died Aug. 21, 2020, at WhidbeyHealth in Coupeville from stroke complications suffered earlier in the week. His sudden death has left his family sad and grief stricken, especially because they were unable to visit him since March because of the pandemic. He was living in the memory care unit of HomePlace in Oak Harbor.

Denny built many fine homes on South Whidbey Island during the 1980s and later co-owned a number of elder care homes in the Everett, Wash., area.

He is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Smith (Los Angeles); son, Cato Smith and his wife, Teresa (Langley); grandchildren, Mallory, Kelsie, Caden, Colten and Caylee; great-granddaughter, Monroe; sisters, Sharon Rhodes, Lorraine Nemitz, Bev Durocher and Donna Doty; and his good friend, Kim Hulka, of Everett. He was preceded in death by his son, Stuart Smith, and parents, Earl and Louise Smith.

Denny will be remembered by his family and friends for his loving heart and generous spirit. May he rest in peace.
