The story of a life going home… Rejoice in the spirit of Debra V. Wilson.
Debra V. Wilson, 51, gently passed with grace and embarked on her journey home to our Lord and Savior, Sept. 4, 2005 at Whidbey General Hospital. She was born March 3, 1954 in Vanzandt, Texas, the first of five children of Lorene Ware. Spending most of her early years in Texas, her family later moved to Akron, Ohio where she attended Thornton High School and Garfield High School.
In February of 1989 Debra married her high school sweetheart Larry Wilson of Akron, Ohio. In December of 1989 Larry and Debra relocated to Whidbey Island, joining the military community in the small town of Oak Harbor. Debra was an avid sanctioned league bowler with Oak Bowl Bowling center, and also worked for many years at the Video and Postal counter at Marketplace Foods. Debra touched many in the community with her great sense of humor and kind heart whether at work or play and will be missed by those and others.
Debra is survived by her husband, Larry Wilson; three children, daughter Orlanda Welch, sons Lawrence and Markeith Griffin, all of Oak Harbor; her mother, Lorene Ware of Akron, Ohio; and three sisters and a brother, Linda Griffin of Akron, and Stephanie Armstead, LaChrista Weaver and Serrice Weaver all of Columbus, Ohio. She also leaves eight beautiful grandchildren: granddaughters, Omani, O’Jinae, Ojania, and Jordan, and grandsons Lawrence Jr., Michael, Orion Jr. and Oreil, as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family and wonderful friends.
Visitation for Debra Wilson will be held at Burley Funeral Chapel in Oak Harbor on Saturday, Sept. 10, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Services will follow at 3 p.m. at Burley Funeral
