David Stanley Harwell

David Stanley Harwell, 45, 12-year resident of Oak Harbor, died suddenly in Arlington Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003.

Mr. Harwell was born in Redmond, Ore., Jan. 25, 1958, to Donald Harwell and Lorna (Steinley) Harwell. He was raised in Salem, Ore., where he graduated from McNary High School in 1976. He entered the US Navy, and retired in 1996. He attended Bellingham Technical College, where he graduated with a certificate in heating and air conditioning. He married Luningning “Lana” Lamoste on Dec. 5, 1990, in The Philippines. He had been employed at the Navy Lodge in maintenance.

David is survived by his wife, Lana, at home; his three daughters, Kristina Harwell of Seattle, and Jessica and Jackie Lou Harwell, both of Oak Harbor; his mother, Lorna Jenson of Salem, Ore.; also, two sisters, Corby Miles and husband Rodney of Eugene, Ore., and Tami McGinnis and husband Larry of Jefferson, Ore. He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Harwell, Nov. 17, 2000.

Visitation will be Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, from 2-6 p.m. at Burley Funeral Chapel and Sunday, Aug. 17, from 1 p.m. until servicetime. A memorial service will be Sunday, Aug. 17, at 2 p.m., at Burley Funeral Chapel. Military honors and interment will take place at a later date at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Ore.
