Daniel Bragg

Memorial services for Daniel A. Bragg will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 9, at Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor with the Rev. Fred Renfroe officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow at Daniel’s parents’ home, 1645 SW 17th Ave., Oak Harbor. Cremation was held with private family inurnment to be held at a later date.

Daniel Allen Bragg, 29, died in a tragic welding accident Feb. 4, 2003, in Whatcom County. He was born April 21, 1973, in French Camp, Calif., to David L. and Elaine K. (Jakola) Bragg. Daniel moved with the mother and brother to Friday Harbor in 1985. He attended elementary and high school in Friday Harbor and graduated from with the Class of 1992.

After high school, Daniel began an apprenticeship as a welder. He became certified in general welding as well as Coast Guard certification as a marine welder. He practiced his trade with the Prime Company, serving as a marine welder from San Francisco to Alaska. In December of 2002, he began work with Canyon Industries in Deming, Wash., working on turbines.

Daniel enjoyed many outdoor activities and will be missed by his large group of friends and family.

Daniel is survived by his mother and step-father Elaine and Michael Hamilton of Oak Harbor, one brother Michael Bragg of Bellingham, and his father David Bragg of California.
