Daniel A. Bowden

Daniel Allen Bowden, 44, died in Anacortes on Jan. 11, 2002. He was born May 20, 1957 in Oxnard, Calif., to Allen and Virginia (Gates) Bowden. He came to Oak Harbor in 1972 with his family and attended Oak Harbor High School. Dan was a wrestler for OHHS, graduating with the Class of 1975.

Daniel was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Oak Harbor. Following high school, Dan served a two-year church mission in Louisville, Ky. He returned to Oak Harbor and was married to Robin L. Gillies in Mount Vernon on March 28, 1986.

Dan moved his family to Jackson, Tenn. For seven years, he was employed as superintendent of the Reynolds Corporation, manufacturing commercial checkout counters. The Bowdens returned to Oak Harbor in 1995.

Dan is survived by his wife Robin and four children, Danielle, Mitchell and David Bowden, all of Oak Harbor and one daughter Rachelle Gillies of Clinton; by his parents Allen and Ginnie Bowden of Oak Harbor; by two brothers and one sister and their spouses; David Allen and Teresa Bowden of Lehi, Utah; Douglas Roy and Denise Bowden and Debra Ann and Paul Wilson, all of Oak Harbor.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at 1 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with Bishop Jerald Jensen. Graveside services will follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery.
