Crispina Nunez Cejas

Crispina Nunez Cejas passed away Nov. 15, 2012 at Life Care Center in Mount Vernon following a lengthy illness. She was born Oct. 28, 1929 in Villaba, Leyte in the Philippines to Ceferino and Valentina (Dejillo) Nunez. She was married to Mamerto Cejas in Villaba, Leyte in 1954.

Crispina came to the U.S. in 1989, living with her son and daughter-in-law, Ramon and Judy, in Mountainview, Oceanside and Mira Mesa, Calif. and finally to Oak Harbor in 2009.

While living in the Philippines, she was actively involved with Holy Child Catholic Church, serving as accountant for the church registrar. She enjoyed sewing, making and repairing clothing, and cooking and her specialty was her pancet. She loved going to the casino and playing her favorite slots.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Ramon and Judy of Oak Harbor and by her husband Mamerto and children Cesar, Celso, Carlo and Charisse all of the Philippines; nine grandchildren, Mitzi, Dodong, Ryan, Andrew, Matthew, Jerrid Simon, Athena, Andrew and Casey also survive.

Funeral Mass for Crispina will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012 at St. Joseph of Cupertino Catholic Church, NAS Whidbey Island with retired Navy Chaplain, Cmdr. Jerry Kienzle as Celebrant. Cremation was held with private family interment.
