Christopher L. Lewis

Christopher L. Lewis, 28, of Trent, S.D., died unexpectedly on April 2, 2006 in Sioux Falls, S.D. His memorial service was April 7 at Kahler Funeral Home Chapel in Dell Rapids, S.D. To leave condolences please go to www.kahlerfh.com.

Christopher Lee Lewis was born Feb. 23, 1978 at the Naval Hospital in Pensacola, Fla. Chris had an unique childhood because of his parents’ occupations in the U.S. Navy, so he attended many schools. Kindergarten and first grade were in San Diego, first to fourth were in Ats ugi, Japan, fourth to eighth in Oak Harbor, eighth to eleventh in Guam, and finally eleventh and twelfth back in Oak Harbor where he graduated in June of 1996. He worked several jobs before he moved with his parents when they retired to Trent, S.D. in the spring of 1998.

Chris began work at the Dell Rapids elevator that spring, and when planting season was over, went to work at Farner Bocken in Sioux Falls as a delivery driver. He decided to try his hand at welding, so then went to work for L.G. Everist in Dell Rapids as a railcar repairman. Chris loved to drive, so he left L.G. Everist and went back to Farner Bocken for several years. He married Amanda Wallin on Nov. 20, 2004, and their son, Taylor Christopher, was the ring bearer. After a brief marriage, Chris moved on to drive semi for SWIFT transportation, but after almost a year of being away from his son, he decided to return to work for Midwest Railcar, and reside in Sioux Falls.

Chris always lived life to its fullest. He had many close friends, loved to have fun, laugh and especially spend quality time with his son. Although Chris’ favorite job was driving truck, Taylor took priority in his life. He was an extremely loving, giving person, and always seemed to have a big smile on his face and laughter in his heart. He was taken from us unexpectedly on April 2 at the tender age of 28 and he will be dearly missed by his son, Taylor of Trent, S.D.; his parents, Robert and Angyla of Trent; his brother, Nathan (Jessica) serving in Iraq; his grandmothers, Violet Arionus of Trent, and Rosemarie Lewis of Fairfield, Calif.; his many aunts, uncles, cousins and all those whose heart he touched.
