Carolyn Jean Sharp, 71, of Coupeville, passed away April 22, 2007 following a lengthy illness. She was born in Smith River, Ore., on Sept. 17,1935, to Robert and Thelma Louise (Knapp) Lewis. She grew up around the Smith River area, where she graduated from high school, and then married Perry Brown on Sept. 21,1952.
While raising her family Carolyn lived in Eugene, Coos Bay and Joseph, Ore.
When the family moved to Adams, she worked at the Harris Pine Mill. After moving to Milton Freewater, they divorced. She also Lived in Pendleton and Battle Mountain before finally calling Coupeville her home in 1993, where she worked at the Tyee Restaurant.
Carolyn was a hard-working and active woman, who enjoyed crocheting, old western movies, walks along the beach and spending time at home with her family.
She is survived by her brother Monty “Butch” Lewis of Adams, Ore.; sister Nancy Wright of Pendleton; three daughters, Margo Fox (husband Larry) of Burbank, Wash., Melidy Melson of Coupeville, and Tamra Linhares (husband Jesse), also of Coupeville; six grandchildren, Stacy Mills and his wife Carry of Oak Harbor, Kristy Martin and husband Jim of Elko, Nev., Robert Simmons of Battle Mountain, Nev., Tonya Simmons of Coupeville, Bobby of Oak Harbor, and Nikki Fox of Burbank, Wash. She also has 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Sally Clark.
A memorial service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints on Saturday, April 28, at 12 noon.
