Caroline Surface-Sansom

On March 24th, 2023, God called another Angel home.

Caroline was a loving mother, wife and friend. She was a mother to 6 biological children with so many more who adopted her as mom over the years. She was a mix of absolute love, joy, spontaneity and a fiery storm.

Carol enjoyed her beautiful Yakima home with her Knight in shining armor and the love of her life, Richard Sansom.

Carol taught her children how to be self-sustaining and live off the land. There really wasn’t anything she could not do. She never hesitated to put those she loved before her own needs.

Carol worked hard all her life, instilling that strong work ethic in her children. Carolines’ work history was most impressive. Carol managed an 80-acre farm while raising 6 children and working full-time. Her job titles included but weren’t limited to: Bartender/Waitress, Caregiver, Cannery worker and Gally cook on Alaskan fishing boats and the Washington State ferries.

She is proceeded in death by her late husbands: Earl Clarence Yoder and Earl Charles Kindelspire. Her Parents Gary and Evelyn Surface. Her siblings Leota Brown, Anita Poolman, Mel Surface, Roy Surface and Vic Surface.

Her beloved Grandsons: Jene Paul Kindelspire/Engle and Ryan Michael Bonner.

Caroline is survived by her best friend and husband of 25 years Richard Sansom. He was a love- and- support to her for 37yrs.

Her brothers: Wilfred Surface, Don Surface and Dave Surface. Sisters: Jenny Dewitt, Betty Schille and Dalores Nagel. Her Children: Sheila Frazier, Lyall Kindelspire, Michael Kindelspire, Jeff Kindelspire, Colleen Vaughn, Lori Chiarizio and Shannon VanBlaricom. Caroline was blessed with 19 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.

A celebration of life will be held later.
