Carmen Anthony Falso: July 5, 1946 – June 14, 2020

Carmen Anthony Falso 73, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 14, 2020 in Cape Coral, Fla., in the comfort of his sister, Antoinette Jarnagin’s loving home.

Carmen was born on July 5, 1946 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the first- born son of Antonio and Angelina Falso, originally from Caserta, Italy. His early years were spent in Ohio with his parents and growing family. His parents were Italian with big, loving hearts that was integral in shaping who Carmen grew to be.

In 1960, the Falso family moved to California when Carmen was 14 years old. He graduated from Chatsworth High School in 1964, where he was an oboist and drum major for the marching band. He then went on to San Fernando Valley State College, where he studied music, history and received a teaching credential.

Carmen was a man of many talents and interests. It is hard to put them all onto paper, for all that he was, and all that he did. He did them all greatly and he had such a love for life. He was a musician, a teacher, an animal lover and a people person. He loved going fishing, but he loved his family more.

His story includes three wives, four children and five grandchildren, but that doesn’t include all his siblings, relatives and close friends. Carmen spent a lot of his life living in California, where he was a teacher for 20 years. It was the place that felt like home to him and he always looked back on his time there with such great memories. He built his own home in Malibu Canyon, where he loved being with his family and riding his horses.

In 1989, Carmen moved to Whidbey Island, Wash., where he lived for 24 years. He loved his home on the harbor and the community in which he was a big part of. He became a real estate agent and, because of his whit, charm and people skills, he did it very well. Most importantly, Carmen was an all around good guy, it was impossible not to love him. He was there for his loved ones when they needed him and a true family man. He was an amazing father to his children, brother to his siblings and confidant to his friends; always offering his support and guidance.

In 2008, Carmens life changed forever. He suffered a stroke while fishing on a remote river in Forks, Wash. His two friends, John and Bob, were there for him when his life depended on it. For many people this would have been the end of their story, but Carmen was a fighter. Though he never fully recovered and lived a very different life, he continued to live and, most importantly, to love. He became a man of few words, but his love was large. He celebrated birthdays, holidays and attended dance recitals. He was there to see his oldest son get married. He had three more grandchildren and lived to love them all.

Carmen spent the last eight years of his life in Florida, where he was surrounded by his loving family.

Carmen is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Falso; children, Anthony, Christopher, Nicole and Brittany Falso; sisters, Antoinette Jarnagin, Sandy Laughing and Dawna Falso; brother, Mario Falso; grandchildren, Reid, Mia, Leo, Macksen and Marina; and all of his extended loving family from Washington, California, Ohio, Hawaii, Virginia and Florida. He is predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Angelina Falso, and brother, Daniel Falso.

Carmen’s children would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all the people who loved him and made his life truly wonderful. With special gratitude to his sister, Antoinette Jarnagin, who took care of him for many years, and his brother-in-law, James Laughing, for always being there too.

Rest in Peace to a truly remarkable man. We will miss you, Carmen.
