Born in Monterrey, Mexico, to Romulous and Celia Farias, Carlos Farias came to the United States as a boy and received the education his father dreamed of for his children.
Carlos is survived by his wife Nikki; son Robert; daughters Laura and Rebecca; stepsons Matt and Greg; stepdaughters Randi; brothers Juan and Rome; and sisters Celia and Josie. He was preceded in death by his beloved son Eddy.
With his wife Nikki and stepson Matt sharing his last days, Carlos died as he lived, with amazing courage and dignity. We will never forget those precious moments that were so important to all of us.
“First” changed the lives of countless USMC recruits and ROTC cadets during his active duty in the Marines and as a ROTC instructor. He was so proud of the ROTC drill team that he led to become national champions. His dedicated leadership and love for others will remain with all of those whose lives he touched. He will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Carlos served two tours in the Vietnam conflict and was a Purple Heart recipient. He later served as a drill instructor. He was a graduate of the University of Texas, San Antonio. He taught in Texas and Washington as an ROTC instructor.
