Betty J. Riley, age 77, of Oak Harbor, died at Whidbey General Hospital Thursday, April 7, 2005.

Mrs. Riley was born Dec. 17, 1927, in Lindsey, Okla. She graduated from high school in Oklahoma City, Okla. During World War II, she worked as a welder. She was employed as a meat cutter for 30 years. Betty married Dale L. Riley Jan. 19, 1946. They resided in Long Beach, Lakewood and then Lake Elsinore, Calif. Betty moved to Oak Harbor in 2001 to be near her granddaughter and family. Betty’s favorite pursuits were shopping and doting on her granddaughter and great-granddaughters.

Betty is survived by her daughter Donna Smith and husband Irvin of Oak Harbor; her granddaughter, Darlene Ledosquet of Oak Harbor and two great-granddaughters, Brittany Shrabel and Elizabeth Ledosquet of Oak Harbor.

A private family graveside service will be held at Westminster Memorial Park in Westminster, Calif. Arrangements by Burley Funeral Chapel
