Belle F. Anderson

Belle F. Anderson, 92, died Oct. 18, 2002 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Olympia. She was born Feb. 21, 1910 in Richmond Beach to John August Bernard Monsen and Manda Marie Elizabeth (Williams) Monsen.

Belle moved to Oak Harbor with her family as a young girl and graduated from Oak Harbor High School in 1928 as the class salutatorian. On Nov. 2, 1929, she married John William “Bill” Anderson in Oak Harbor. The two continued to live in Oak Harbor where Belle worked as a bookkeeper at the co-op store. In 1938 she and her husband moved to Sitka, Alaska, for three years and then returned to Richmond Beach where she worked as a bookkeeper for the Everett Fish Company and later as a bookkeeper for her husband in their boat building business. In the fall of 1948, they moved to Edmonds and resided there until 1960 at which time they moved to Whidbey Island. Belle’s husband, Bill, died Dec. 15, 1992. Two years later she moved to Lynnwood to live near her daughter, Evelyn Dunlap. In 2001 she moved back to Oak Harbor to reside.

Belle had attended the San de Fuca Chapel.

She is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Smith of Lacey and Evelyn Dunlap of Lynnwood; one son, Kenneth William Anderson of Seattle; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Marjorie.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 2 p.m., at Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor with Mr. Terry Krueger officiating. Private family graveside services will follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Oak Harbor.
