Barry Allen Pea, 52, died suddenly at Whidbey General Hospital on Oct. 1, 2006. Barry was born in Kodiak, Alaska on Jan. 29, 1954 to Walter Donald and Alma Gertrude (Roodzant) Pea. He moved with his family to Oak Harbor in 1960. After graduation, Barry went to work for Parkhurst and Lange Construction Company in Oak Harbor, working as an apprentice and as a journeyman training during his 10 years with P&L. He was married to Elizabeth Valdez Pea for 18 years before their divorce. Barry married Rhonda Sue Gilgo in Hawaii on Nov. 1, 1992.
Barry left P&L and formed his own construction companies, Chicharo and then BP Redline, Inc. In 2001, he closed his business and worked for Yonkman Construction. He eventually moved on to Highline Roofing and finally, working for Westgate Homes.
Barry loved fishing and baseball. He also was a skilled cook and baker and had a passion for NASCAR racing. He was a loving husband and father. He was an amazing carpenter and would help anyone who needed him.
Barry is survived by his wife Rhonda of Oak Harbor; three daughters, Raschel Thompson and husband Ken of Marysville, Rachel Lee of Edmonds, and Angela Cesaitis and husband Ryan of Ellicott City, Md.; his mother, Alma Sheppard of Oak Harbor; one sister, Donna Carr and husband Ted of Anacortes; his father, Donald Pea of Hayden, Ala.; five grandchildren, Chanel and Parker Thompson, Brook Lee and Damian and Jordan Cesaitis; one niece, Aaron Carr; one nephew, Laurel Carr; and his first wife, Elizabeth of Los Angeles.
Memorial services for Barry Pea will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5 at the Christian Reformed Church, Oak Harbor with Rev. Randy Beumer officiating. Cremation was held with private family inurnment to follow at a later date. Arrangements are entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
